Structures

Summer of 2010 saw major changes to the observatory including the rebuilding of the pier and platform along with a permanent shed to house the telescopes and miscellaneous equipment. The telescope pier and platform suffered through a rough winter. The planks warped and cracked and the pier shifted slightly from frost heaving. It was decided instead of repairing the existing platform it would be better to build a new one. Below are some pictures during various periods of construction. Legs and castors were added to the telescope box to make it easier to handle. It will need to be rebuilt to take care of the water damage to the top.

We also purchased a new Suncast A03B04 7.5' x 5' shed to house the scopes so everything is in one central location. The shed is powered and hooked to the internet. If it had a bathroom I could live there.
